|Experience||I have been a mentor to disadvantaged kids throughout my secondary and JC years. From these 6 years of experience, I believe I have gained an acute understanding of what is required in order to teach effectively. Indeed, my mentees have shown marked gains in the subjects that I tutor them in.
For myself, I teach through a combination of both patience and pacing. To expand on the latter, one of the many problems I encountered when tutoring was that sometimes the tutees were out of depth while studying their current syllabus. Not having the fundamentals mastered yet trying to take on complex questions inevitably led to much fustration. Thus it is important to suit one's studying techniques to one's rate of learning. One should not be focused so much as on how much one was able to acheive in one session but how well one was able to learn from the work that he/she did in that timeframe.
I have constantly excelled in my academics, obtaining dean's list for chemistry in my school as well as having tackled H3 econs. Acheiving straight A's in my A levels shows that my studying techniques have been tried, tested and proven.
