Qualifications and Experience
|I am from NUS High School of Maths and Science - an IP school that offers accelerated curriculum in Math and Science education.
My school runs on a system similar to that of NUS. Subject modules are scored every semester and count to our graduation score. I could also tailor my own education to my liking. Because of such, I learned to take pride in my learning every step of the way.
Furthermore, NUSH is a specialized institution in Math and Science. Many of my teachers hold Ph.Ds and/or masters to teach the highly accelerated math and science curriculum. They have a very unique teaching style that really helps me understand the hardest of concepts, and better yet, remember them.
In 2012, I graduated with a NUS High School Diploma (Distinction) with Honours in Mathematics, Biology and Chemistry, and Major in Physics. Honours are similar to H3 subjects.
Analyzing the breakdown of my diploma, I score 4.9 out of a 5.0 for my Physics 4.8 for Chemistry 4.6 for Biology and 4.8 for Mathematics, which amounts to getting a High Distinction in all of the above H3 subjects.
I also achieved a perfect 5 out of 5 for all my Advanced Placement (AP) Examinations, an international examination which is pitched at H2/H3 standards. I took Physics C, Calculus AB/ BC, Statistics, Chemistry and Biology.
I took math olympiad lessons for several years until I became the Student Council Vice-President. I made the painful choice to drop out of training so as to commit more time to lead
|Experience||I served as Student Council Vice-president in 2011. I planned and executed numerous leadership camps and projects for the school.
In 2008, I, along with a group of classmates, organized a 2 days non-residential Math and Science camp for East Coast Primary School. My team received overwhelming thanks from both the students and teachers for the creativity in teaching.
Apart from academics and mastery of my high school subjects, I am also a student leader.
In 2009 and 2010, I served as Robotics President. Part of it includes teaching the students how to program and construct robots. The lessons i conducted to classes of 25 and public speaking has trained me to convey ideas confidently to others.
I served as Student Council vice-president in 2011 and had many opportunities in interacting with peers and juniors, teaching and helping them along the way. My experiences trained me to communicate better, which is an asset as education requires the ability to communicate information clearly and concisely.
After graduation, I enlisted and commissioned as an SAF Army Combat Engineer Officer in Jan 2014.
In 2012, I was offered a DSTA overseas scholarship.
I believe NUS High has a different education philosophy to many other secondary schools and JC. That could mean the difference to help you understand concepts better and faster.
|Commitment||From Jan- 2015, I can commit full-time to tutoring.
I live in the Central (Queenstown) and would prefer teaching students locations nearby. However, places outside these locations are fine too.
