Experience/Remarks

I am a responsible, patient and approachable full-time tutor, with experience teaching more than 80 students of various academic levels and learning abilities. I will adapt to the pace of the student when explaining fundamental concepts, and incorporate more challenging problem sums as the student progresses in his/her learning.

I have, in the past, taught students from pre-school to poly/JC levels. In recent years, however, I have deliberately opted to specialize in teaching English, Math and Science at the upper primary and secondary levels. This decision was made in acknowledgement of how crucial the formative years are in a child's continuing academic journey.

I had had very positive results with my students, many of whom saw noticeable improvement in their grades within a short span of 1-3 months. More importantly, their attitudes and confidence transformed as they started to score well in their previously weak subjects, which further encourages them to try harder, thus setting off a virtuous cycle.

Although I am not a teacher registered with MOE, I believe my past training and work experience as an engineer have armed me with the ability to explain both mathematical and scientific concepts very clearly. I am able to relate the textbook teachings to useful applications of Math, Physics, Chemistry and Life Sciences in the real world. I also make an effort to stay abreast of the changes in MOE curricula and am familiar with the latest syllabi.

Commitment Level

Responsible full-time tutor. Once an assignment is accepted, I will follow through to the student's year-end examination. Many of my present students have remained with me for 2-3 years.

I typically take in 5-8 P6 students each year. With the recent conclusion of the PSLE, various time slots are now open for booking. Parents of P5 or P6 students may approach StarTutor to enquire about my availability.
