I have been tutoring for the past 6 years now, having had experience teaching Primary 5 students, all the way up to JC level. I especially like to teach Maths and Science, as they are subjects which I have great interest in, and would like my students to feel the same way too.
My style is to not promote blind memorization or regurgitation. I believe the student will be best served when he understands the concept behind a particular topic. I will do this by giving analogies and examples that mirror the concept of the topic at hand. Such a form of learning is highly effective, and will put the student in good stead in further studies.
At the same time, I try to include parallel analogies or real-life examples that can enhance the student's understanding behind a particular topic. This is done in the hope that the student can appreciate the reasons behind a particular topic.
Since concepts in most topics in Maths and Science require constant practice in order for one to be fully proficient in them, I tend to give homework every lesson. I am strict as a tutor, but I do stress however, that in order for one to improve and be better in the subject, effort has to be put in and thus, I will always remind the student that he has the key to his own success.
With my guidance, we can work together to make this possible!
Commitment Level I can start immediately and can make it on all weekday afternoons, weeknights and weekends. Saturday mornings are out though as I already have another teaching commitment at that time.
Flexibility is preferred and timings can be negotiated.
