Experience/Remarks

I received the MOE scholarship since sec 3 in River Valley High School. I joined the Maths Accelerated Program when I was in Hwa Chong Institution. I have been a relief teacher in River Valley High School after A Level, teaching maths Olympiads, A maths and higher Chinese. Currently I am studying civil engineering (year 2) in NUS under scholarship.

I am a very friendly and easy-going person, and tutees used to like me very much and were willing to exchange their ideas with me. Strong in Mathematics and science, I perceive myself as an all-rounded person, with main interests in drama, theatre, as well as music. I enjoy teaching very much and I believe the students will enjoy learning with me as they may as well learn things outside the textbook. I'm sure the students would gain confidence and passion in acedemics under my guidance, and consequently, perform better and better.

My teaching style could be very flexible. For students who are weaker in terms of acedemics, I would generally teach him all the basic concepts and go through questions from easy and step-by-step. While for students who are independent learners, they ask me questions and I explained to them, and telling them all those possible shortcuts, or giving them more challenging problems to try. I also taught some Maths and Physics Olympiad students before, where that is really depend on the pace of students.

Commitment Level

If the student is interested, I also shared some extra curricular knowledge to him, such as basic astronomy which I am personally fascinated with, or Sudoku which I once played extensively and won cash prize in Singapore's national Sudoku competition 2006, or many interesting areas in mathematics that would attract the curious minds, such as counting problems, mental calculation, 24 Games and so on. Interest is all that makes one excel.
