I graduated from NUS with a Bachelor of Science (Real Estate) Honours in 2012.
I am currently pursuing Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) - Primary - specialising in English and Mathematics.
I used to tutor more than 20 students from P2 to Sec 4 for abt 6 years (2008 to 2013). I was ranked within the Top 50 tutors back then in Star Tutor but I was unable to continue giving tuitions due to increasing work commitment. However, 5 years in the corporate world made me realised that there is no satisfaction as great as seeing young kids succeed with our guidance. As such, in 2017, I finally decided to pursue my childhood dream and make a career change to become an educator, officially.
I do not believe in stressing our kids further with extra tuition homework thus, I will keep it minimal unless truly necessary. I will start the lesson with going through their related school work and revising concepts that they are still weak in. Remediation is key to learning among young learners so that they can advance to the more difficult topics with ease.
The main objective of my lessons especially for Mathematics is to increase their relational understanding. Drill and practices are not helpful if they do not truly understand a concept thus, I will incorporate interactive learning using simple household items and toys as manipulatives. E.g lego blocks on place value charts to teach them long division (P3) which many students have difficulties in. This is similar to the base-10 sets that they may have used in sch.
Being a current NIE trainee, I hope that my fresh skills and knowledge can contribute to your child's academic career beyond their sch time.
Commitment Level Due to school commitments, I am only available on weekend mornings. I can start from 30 June 18 onwards till the end of the school year.
