I have two years teaching experience with both Economics for JC level, and O level A Math and English.
I did poorly for lower secondary and did not pick up greatly in Sec Three. I had a short time to catch up for O levels, but managed to score all A1s for my subjects.
My teaching style and system is derived from this experience. The focus is not just on teaching but motivating the student and finding creative ways to make difficult subjects enjoyable for them, and to show them that it is possible (Especially at O level standard) to go all the way from the bottom to the top.
Would like to encourage any parent too that really, no child is a lost cause, the O level standard is not to the extent where they cannot catch up. Even the laziest student (as mine was) could go from F9 to B3, and a willing one can definitely score an A1 given the right routines.
The two students I've taught for 6-8 months results were
- E/F for Economics to B for IB (I'm using the A level grading equivalent)
- F9 to B3 for both A Math and English for O levels.
Commitment Level I can start asap and will be able to do so till next year. I will have a short overseas trip in Mid-December, and typically am not free on Sundays.
