I have 10 years of private tutoring experiences from 2007 to present. In these 10 years, I taught 12 students (6 boys, 6 girls) from K1 to Sec 4. My focus teaching subject is English language. I am committed to teaching my students until they complete their PSLE or 'O' level examinations. As such, the students I teach usually stay with me until they finish their national examination.
Almost all of my students showed improvements in their English papers. The improvement ranges from 5 to 25 marks. (e.g., Fail to Pass, C6 to B3, B3 to A2). Where possible and if time permits, I use my experiences to share with my students, some examination tips for other subjects and also look at how they can improve in their other subjects.
I am also a qualified MOE music teacher. Specifically, I have a NAFA diploma and Grade 9 (distinction) in Guzheng. I can teach guzheng (in English and Mandarin) and ABRSM theory grading.
Current - MOE Trained Music Teacher
2015 - NIE Contract Teacher in Primary School (taught Art, Music and Social Studies)
2014 - NIE Contract Teacher in a Secondary School (taught Social Studies and Music)
2011 - Graduated with Second Upper Honours in Psychology.
2010 - MOE Internship to teach English in a Secondary School (taught Sec 3 Express students English Language)
2007 - Taught in Kumon Learning Centre and did relief teaching in a primary school (English and Maths).
Commitment Level I commit to teaching my students for the year or until they finished their national examinations. As such, many of my students stayed with me, and on average, I guide them for 4-5 years.
I am able to build a rapport with my students and make them feel at ease especially when they are not familiar with me for a start.
Most importantly, my students learn to love learning as I use various methods to teach and interest them. Some of my students I taught commented that they enjoy my teaching and look forward to the next lesson with anticipation.
As my students have graduated from their Primary/Secondary schools, I am able to take in new students now.
