I've tutored relatives from primary level to secondary. I have also taught a group of foreign workers English at my neighbour's factory (Galmon Pte Ltd) over the course of 2 months. During my national service, I trained Air Warfare Officers that aspire to work in the RSAF in positions such as air traffic control etc. I worked closely with the instructors to construct the syllabus and had an active role in training the Officer Cadets. The training is much like a school environment as I did lectures and practical sessions with them. It was during my NS stint that i found a penchant for teaching and the great satisfaction I get when a student understands something and ultimately graduates.
I am particularly strong at Mathematics and it always excites me to impart my knowledge and other tips and tricks to my friends and students. I strongly believe in grasping mathematical concepts so that the student is able to manipulate any question without any difficulty and that will be my core basis in tutoring, the drilling of concepts.
Constant communication between myself, parent and student is key to identify weakness and strengths which will help to lead to our ultimate goal improvement in grades.
I have tutored an O level student in Math and his prelim results leaped from C6 to A1. I believe that the results speak for themselves.
Finally, I believe that all children can do well when the correct encouragement and resources are given to them.
Commitment Level I can start as soon as possible. I am currently on my end of academic year 2 holiday which ends during mid July. After that I will mostly be available only from the late afternoon onwards on weekdays, due to University commitments. My weekend schedule shall remain unchanged.
