Experience/Remarks

I had a Secondary 3 student from Ang Mo Kio Secondary School. Under my guidance of 6 months, his grades for English improved from a D7 to a B4.

I remain updated with the syllabus through my pool of friends in NIE and current teachers. I am also able to identify the common mistakes and pitfalls of students. Using different tutoring approaches that are catered to different students based on their ability and attitude, I believe I can help them achieve improved grades in the shortest time possible.

In addition, I come prepared for lessons with a clear structure of what I am going to teach during the session and thereafter. I will as far as possible try to inject the relevance of today's society into the subject to make things interesting for the student to learn, instead of the traditional teaching methods that are constantly practiced by teachers in schools. I prioritise consistency in students, as English language is unlike technical subject like mathematics where practice itself would get them far. Additional practices and materials would be constantly given to ensure they understand the concept and skills in tackling different areas, and thereby promoting consistency amongst themselves.

Lastly, I will try my best to remain approachable and contactable at all times instead of limiting my job scope strictly to the tuition hours.

Commitment Level

I am currently pursuing a Bachelor in Arts, majoring in Communications and New Media (Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences) at NUS. I am flexible in terms of lesson timings. With mutual understanding and mild compromising, I believe we will be able to reach an optimal choice for day/timing.
