Experience/Remarks

I specialise in O and A Level Chemistry and Biology, which I have been tutoring for the past 2-3 years. I have experience with students from many secondary schools and JCs.

Currently, I teach H2 Chemistry full-time at a reputable JC,so I am well versed in the syllabus and exam requirements, as well as the most effective teaching methods used in top schools.

I enjoy the challenge of teaching students from top schools, but I relish the satisfaction of helping ordinary students excel just as much. As long as the student is willing to learn, I am willing to teach him/her with patience and will tailor my teaching method to suit the individual.

I am also a firm believer that working smart is just as important as working hard, so I would not encourage rote learning or ask the student to memorise everything. Instead, I have a vast resource of notes and exam tips, accumulated, distilled and refined over the years, to help students identify important learning points, establish a strong foundation, ace their exams, and explore the subject beyond the syllabus.

I have also come up with an O and A level intensive tutoring programme to help weak students grasp concepts quickly in time for their exams. After 3 months of tuition, all my JC students have shown marked improvement, achieving at least a B in their promos/prelims, improving from Ds and Es. One of my O level students achieved an A1 for her prelims after just 1.5 month of tuition.

Commitment Level

I am able to start asap. Currently, I am available on some weekday afternoons, all weekday evenings (except Thursdays), and selected weekend slots (please enquire or refer to schedule table).

Please note that I will be leaving for the US in August '08. Currently, I put all my students on a moderately intensive programme to ensure they will be well prepared for their final exams by August.

All my students will be taken over by qualified tutors whom I trust when I leave.
