Experience/Remarks
Four years ago, I received MOE scholarship, and attended Nanyang Girls' High School. In December 2010, I graduated from Hwa Chong Institution (College). I took 12 academic units (full) at JC, and I am particularly strong in Chinese (my mothertongue language), Mathematics and Sciences. br /
I was selected as a Chinese relief teacher on Nanyang Internship programme in January. I am teaching Sec 2 to Sec 4 students now. br /
I explored by myself some effective teaching methods. For example, one of my classes is extremely quiet, and this troubled me for two weeks. Later, I found that, for them, learning in a relaxed yet disciplined atmosphere helped a lot. I tried to arouse their interest in Chinese by playing some Chinese debate competition videos, and inviting everyone to speak up for their argument in class. This method turned out to be really helpful. They are much more responsive and active in class now. br /
Another major problem in teaching is to teach the same contents with different paces in different ways according to different students. My gifted education programme (GEP) class wanted me to teach more than the syllabus. So I decided to prepare notes specially for every class, so that they can grasp maximum knowledge without feeling dull.br /
I am also taking care of NYGH's well-known Chinese calligraphy team. I am experienced in calligraphy. I have got many awards in national Chinese calligraphy competitions when I was in NYGH and HCJC.br /
