Other Qualifications

I have always excelled academically. I was a student of the Gifted Education Programme from the years 1999-2004, and later joined the Humanities Programme in my junior college days. Over these years I developed keen interests in the subjects of English, Mathematics, Economics, Chemistry, Geography and Music, and have always scored consistently and comfortably in these areas.

Experience/Remarks

I believe that all academic achievements are preceded by two different paths - one involves the cultivation of a genuine interest in the subject, while the other focuses solely on the achievement of results on paper. My education philosophy revolves around discussion, stimulation, engagement and finally, understanding. It does not preclude some episodes of rote memorisation and drilling, but I firmly believe that these should and will always come secondary to personal understanding.

I recognise that not all tutees are looking for such an approach - some may prefer a formulaic 'one-size-fits-all' methodology, and if necessary, I am capable of delivering in this respect too.

Nevertheless, I will continually strive to engage my tutees in the subjects I tutor them in. Whether it is through the usage of analogies, real-life application problems, discussions and article reviews, I sincerely hope that my tutees will take away something more than just good results at the end of the day.

Mathematics has always been my pet subject and from Primary School til JC, and during my time in JC I was involved in our school's Mathematics Peer Tutoring Programme. I have also been providing a lot of informal peer tutoring to my classmates during school hours

In 2006-2007 I was engaged (via a volunteer organisation) in tutoring underprivileged primary school children from Andersen Primary in Mathematics and English.

Commitment Level

I am currently working on weekdays so am only free on evenings as shown. My weekend schedule is more negotiable/flexible.

I will be going overseas to further my studies around September so I am not looking for any long-term assignments for now, preferably tutees who need help on an ad-hoc basis or don't mind finding another tutor when the time comes.
