Other Qualifications

After graduating with a Diploma in Business Administration from Singapore Polytechnic, I applied for a teaching post with MOE. I was accepted by National Institute of Education upon first trial, and spent 2 years pursuing Diploma in Education (Primary EMS). Thereafter, I became a full-fledged teacher.

Experience/Remarks

During my 3 years of teaching, I upgraded my teaching skills in various courses organized by MOE. I am extremely confident in teaching English, and I love using story books to heighten students' comprehension skills. I can never stress enough the importance of cultivating a child's love for reading from young. There will be lots of interaction to brush up students' oral skills. I am able to teach English up to Secondary 4 level.

For Math and Science, it is crucial that students build up solid foundation right from the beginning. I will not move on until I am very sure that the student has truly absorbed the essence of a topic/ method. I have my own special methods in imparting vital Math and Science concepts. Based on my own interest, I will teach Math and Science up to Primary 4 level. May consider teaching higher levels.

I am also confident in teaching Chinese to Primary students, as Chinese has always been part and parcel of my life. Chinese novels have never left my life. I must say that my passion for Chinese helped me tremendously when I was studying Japanese Kanji. In addition, I can converse in Cantonese and conversational Japanese. I have attained Japanese Language Proficiency Test Level 2 (JLPT 2).

For the past few years, I have been giving tuition part-time while working in the world of printing/ publishing. I have decided to become a full-time tutor starting from May 2010, as I really enjoy one-to-one coaching.

Commitment Level

I am providing tuition full-time, thus parents can be assured of my high commitment, definitely no cancellation of lesson on whim. Mainly looking at long-term assignments spanning from 1 year onwards, as it is gratifying to watch your child blossom under my tutelage.
