Experience/Remarks

German is my first language and I completed my first five years of schooling in Germany. I mainly speak German at home.

I taught a student, who had previously studied German up to Level 3 at NUS, for two months in order to help her brush up on her language skills before leaving for an exchange programme to Germany. I also taught a Sec 3 student for a year and another A Level graduate who wanted to brush up on her German for 6 months.

Currently I am tutoring a Sec 2 student who is attending German classes at the MOELC and a P5 student whose mother tongue is German.

From Sec 1 to JC2 I studied German at the MOELC, so I am familiar with the syllabus and teaching methods adopted there. This enables me to tutor students who take German either as a second or third language at the MOELC as I can adapt and help them according to their needs. Also, I took the GCE O and A Level Examinations, so I am aware of the requirements and the expectations set for students intending to sit for these examinations.

I am also able to tutor students who need help with Knowledge and Inquiry, depending on which topics need to be covered. I am especially familiar with the topics on the nature of the construction of knowledge, and knowledge construction in science and in social sciences. Students who need help with Theory of Knowledge are advised to indicate the topics they would like to cover. I believe however that there is a sufficient overlap in KI and ToK for me to be able to tutor ToK.

Commitment Level

I will be able to start immediately. The current schedule indicated is most likely applicable from February to April. Thereafter it will be dependent again on my university timetable the following semester. For January I will be unable to arrange a fixed day and time due to university-related competitions, so if anyone wishes to start in January, flexibility is a must.

Please note that I may need to arrange alternative tuition slots on occasion due to university-related and other extra-curricalur events. As such, it would be preferable if a potential tutee is generally prepared to be flexible in fixing tuition timings.
