Experience/Remarks
Academically, I was from the Gifted Education Programme in RI and later the Humanities Programme in RJC, and while competent in my other academic disciplines, I nurtured a specialised interest in History, Literature and Current Affairs.
I have 2 years experience tutoring a P4 girl for English, Math and Social Studies. Under my tutelage, she has achieved A's for these subjects.
I firmly believe that there are 3 Keys to excelling in the Humanities - Exposure, Skills and Motivation.
In terms of exposure, I will come to each lesson prepared with a wide range of articles and literature, which will help the student gain valuable knowledge relating to the subject. I will also conduct rigorous verbal discussions to allow the student to learn to think quickly on his feet and express his points in an articulate manner.
In terms of skills, I will teach my student how to effectively grasp key ideas from sources, analyze the inherent biases, and then presenting them in a concise and coherent manner in order to ensure maximum clarity and efficiency in each written piece. I will also give my student a range of practice questions from past exam papers in order to prepare them holistically for exams.
In terms of motivation, I will work hand-in-hand with student and parent alike, seeking to instill the drive and determination to excel in each of my students. I believe that I can get the best out of my students.
Commitment Level
I can start from late December 2009 onwards and can commit till September 2010 when I will leave to study BSc International Relations & History at the London School of Economics (LSE). Rest assured that I will prepare my students for their exams prior to my departure.
