Experience/Remarks

I was in the Gifted Education Programme and have 2 years' experience as a tutor. I have tutored P6 Maths as well as various O/A Math/Science subjects. Among them, my best achievements have been improving a Sec 3 TKGS girl's Chem and Phy grades from a B4 and B3 respectively to A1s at O Levels. I continued tutoring these TKGS twins this year in JC1 in Phy, Chem and Math and they attained As and Bs in these subjects in their Promos at VJC. Also, I helped the abovementioned P6 Student from Kong Hwa to improve in Math from an average of 30+ to 67 at Prelims and B at PSLE.

Through experience, I found that tuition only works if both the tutor and student are motivated. As such, I do my best to help students realise a purpose in school and to instill in them a drive to succeed. To achieve this, I tailor my lessons according to my students' learning abilities and make them as engaging as possible. I also make it a point to prepare lessons and anticipate questions beforehand so that lessons are focussed and smooth.

Importantly, my experience with the abovementioned P6 student taught me invaluable lessons on handling difficult and disparaged students who are underperforming. These experiences, together with inherent patience, make me confident of bringing the best out of students.
