Commitment Level
Since I am working as a full time tutor, I can start immediately and commit long-term.
My teaching philosophy.
1. Inculcate the right learning attitude. I believe this is the most important, because with the right attitude, the student will improve very quickly. The student must understand why he or she is going to school and realize the long term results of building up a strong foundation.
2. Never spoon-feed the student. I will always pose questions which serve to guide the student's thinking process towards solving the problem, and train his or hers critical thinking skills. The student must be able to see the logic and purpose behind every step and not just apply blindly.
3. Consistency and preparation. The student should be active in his or hers learning and always read up and clear up as many doubts as possible with the school teachers before coming for tuition. 2 hours a week is very short, and it is not a good use of time if the tutor has to teach every topic from scratch.
4. Parental involvement. I believe that parents have the biggest influence in the student's learning, even more so than the teachers. I will feedback to the parents any problem the student is facing, and hopefully we can solve it together.
