I graduated from NUS in 2009 with a 2nd Upper Degree in Mech Engineering, and was placed on the Dean's List for three semesters. I have been giving tuition since year 1 in university, and have been a full-time tutor for 4 years since I graduated. I have also taught as a Physics tutor in The Physics Cafe.

I specialize in Secondary Maths, Physics and Chemistry, and JC Maths and Physics. I have taught students from all sorts of backgrounds, be it from normal or express, O Level, A Level or IP, neighbourhood or elite schools, with great degrees of success. Most importantly, I also enjoy great working relationships with both students and parents.

Here are some examples of my students' improvements

1. RI IP student. A.Maths, Physics and Chemistry improved from C6 to A1.

2. Anderson JC student. Started tuition a few months before Prelims. Physics improved from E to B for 'A' Levels in 2009.

3. ASC(I) sec 4 student. Pure Chemistry and Physics grades improved from E8 in Sec 3 to B3 for 'O' Levels in 2010.

4. Deyi sec 4 student. E.Maths improved from C5 to A2, A.Maths improved from D7 to B3 for 'O' Levels in 2010.

5. Montfort sec 4 student. E.Maths improved from B4 to A1, A.Maths from C5 to A2, and Phy/Chem from B4 to A1 for 'O' Levels in 2011.

6. RGS IP student. A1 for Maths every year from Year 2 to Year 4.

7. CJC J1 student. Maths improved from E to A in 2013.

8. Two Deyi Sec 4 students improved from C6 to B3 for 'O' Level 2013.

Commitment Level

Since I am working as a full time tutor, I can start immediately and commit long-term.

My teaching philosophy.

1. Inculcate the right learning attitude. I believe this is the most important, because with the right attitude, the student will improve very quickly. The student must understand why he or she is going to school and realize the long term results of building up a strong foundation.

2. Never spoon-feed the student. I will always pose questions which serve to guide the student's thinking process towards solving the problem, and train his or hers critical thinking skills. The student must be able to see the logic and purpose behind every step and not just apply blindly.

3. Consistency and preparation. The student should be active in his or hers learning and always read up and clear up as many doubts as possible with the school teachers before coming for tuition. 2 hours a week is very short, and it is not a good use of time if the tutor has to teach every topic from scratch.

4. Parental involvement. I believe that parents have the biggest influence in the student's learning, even more so than the teachers. I will feedback to the parents any problem the student is facing, and hopefully we can solve it together.
