Experience/Remarks
I am a MOE Teaching Award holder specialising in English Language and Social Studies. I am currently a final year honours student at NUS (second upper honours track), and doing a major in English Language at the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS). I was placed on the FASS Dean's List (top 5% of my cohort in my course) twice. Once in Academic Year 2011-2012 Semester 2, and another in AY2012-2013 Semester 1. I will be entering NIE in August 2013, after which I will be a full-fledged teacher at a local secondary school.
I have been giving tuition since 2009, and a majority of my students achieved an A2 and above for Combined Humanities and English Language in the GCE 'O' Level examinations. I am familiar with the syllabus and requirements of the subjects, and give tailored answers and guidelines to students. I do not merely make use of assessment books, as I personally feel that they do not provide relevant and consistent answers at times, and only confuse students further.
I charge a premium flat rate of $50/hr for all levels. This premium rate is so as I take in a maximum of 2 students at any point in time in order to commit myself fully to help them. Thus, rest assured that your child receives maximum attention from me which I believe is the intended purpose of private tuition in the first place. What you are paying for, is the effort put into customising materials for the student in order to specifically target his or her strengths and weaknesses.
Commitment Level
I am committed to my assignments and am confident that academic progress can be achieved if students cooperate by putting in the necessary effort. I usually see my students through major exams so as to minimize disruptions associated with changing of tutors during crucial periods.
I will also be able to commence tuition on short notice. Parents can be assured that rescheduling of lessons will be kept to a minimal and only when absolutely necessary. In return I seek understanding from parents should there be changes in my university schedule at the start of a new semester.
