Update on Academic Tutor Programme

Charity Teaching Programme for Academic Tutors

Calling All StarTutors,

With effect from April, we will be implementing a charity drive where you, as tuition teachers will be able to have the opportunity to support in the education of the less-fortunate & needy students in Singapore.

It is always gratifying to give what we can back to society, therefore we urge you to join this initiative where you CAN be the bright spark in the lives of others and help the more under-privileged amongst us reach their dreams and aspirations.

There are significant benefits for you as well!

1. An abundant amount of teaching experience can be attained, especially for the newer tutors who are starting out.

2. By volunteering, you will also be regarded as an Academic Tutor (for 120 days) on our website and your tutor profile page will receive higher priority viewing among all tutors when our customers use our tutor search function, this greater exposure could mean more teaching assignments for you in the near-future.

3. To acknowledge your charitable efforts, the school will present a certificate to you a mark of your generous contribution towards this teaching programme.

Teaching sessions will be group-based with classes of 6 students apiece, the frequency of the lessons will be 1.5 hour sessions, once per week, up to a total of 10 sessions. It is our honour to jointly embark on this endeavor with Anderson Secondary School.

10 tutors are required on first come first serve basis, 5 to teach O-level Math and 5 to teach O-level Science respectively. If you want to join the Academic Tutor Programme, you may indicate interest in the Latest Request Map. All tuition requests under this programme will be marked with this icon .

Added Statistics on Quotation in Active Requests

Hi tutors,

We have added the following statistics (Minimum, Average, Maximum, Standard Deviation) gathered from all tutors' quotations for an active request. We hope this could better provide you a guideline to gauge your own quotation as compared to the other tutors.

For those who are having an iPhone, this is going to be an exciting news. We have just gotten our StarTutor iPhone application approved by Apple Store.

Now you can be connected to StarTutor any time, any where. The main features include:

Request for Tutor Page is Fixed

Dear Customers,

The Request for Tutor page was down for a while due to a technical issue. We have resolved the issue by now and you may use the Request for Tutor page to submit your requests as usual.

Buddy Messaging Made Easy

Dear Tutors,

We have enhanced the tutor buddy message to provide you a more intuitive interface.

The messages in and out, when you are chatting with another tutor, have been grouped into a conversation which records the last 5 messages keyed in by you and your buddy. Now you can see more context in what you have been talking with your buddies. Moreover, you can simply click on the "Chat" button to toggle the message box for you to leave a message to your buddies.

Added Tuition Centre Icon in Latest Request Map

We have updated our Latest Request Map to differentiate the Tuition Centre requests from the rest of requests with this icon .

For tuition centre requests, you should expect the followings if you are shortlisted.

1. Travel down to the tuition centre for an interview.
2. The pay-rate often varies based on the number of students in class and your qualification.
3. The class schedule will be fixed for long term.
